Proper installation of flashing and counter flashing at the intersection of a vertical wall with a roof surface is required to avoid roof leaks.
Sidewall roof flashing. The flashing extends up the wall at least 4. Our page top photograph illustrates a successful installation of flashing and counter flashing along intersection of a roof surface with the side of a brick constructed dormer. Nailing the step flashing into the roof shingles. Striations and bends on the flashing provide strength and match the lines of your other edge trims.
For me the self seal flashing keep my step flashing where i wanted it. The flashing extends onto the roof a minimum of 2 inches 4 inches is preferable in more severe climate areas. Striations and bends on the flashing provide strength and match the lines of your other edge trims. Universal sidewall trim is designed to flash from your metal roof panels to a vertical wall such as a chimney.
The universal sidewall trim combined with sealant provides a watertight seal for your roof system. Peel and stick flashing. Sidewall flashing is applied when the side of the roof butts up against an adjacent wall. Not really a good idea but the previous set up did this i did not.
For counter flashing i cut and bent mine from a roll of 10 valley flashing. Flashing joints are lapped 6 in the direction of water flow. Butyl tape should be applied where the foot of the flashing attaches to the roof.
